Courthouse Security Training Program

Purpose
The Courthouse Security Training Program, which originated in Wisconsin, was created to improve courthouse security, provide consistency of information and to strengthen the ongoing operation of Courthouse Security and Facility Committees.
Wisconsin Courthouse Security Manual
In an effort to define the essential components of a model courthouse security program, the Wisconsin Sheriff's and Deputy Sheriff's Association (WSDSA), U.S. Marshal's Office of the Western District of Wisconsin, the Director of State Courts, the Office of the Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court and Fox Valley Technical College's Criminal Justice Center for Innovation (through support from the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance) teamed up to create the Wisconsin Courthouse Security Manual. Its purpose is to equip law enforcement officers, judges, clerks of court, and other county officials with the information necessary to customize a comprehensive security plan for their courthouse. Bound and electronic copies of this manual are now available for purchase. Click HERE for the request form.
Specialized Training
Fox Valley Technical College offers specialized training in Courthouse Security, which incorporates protocols and standards specific to the courthouse(s) of the requesting agency. This training is intended to help establish the appropriate level of security and awareness through the development of routine security procedures and contingency safety and security plans, threat management, judicial protection management and forming response teams. During the course of the training, attendees will be given the opportunity to work together to develop a comprehensive security plan and outline timelines for implementation.
