Why did you choose the Culinary Arts and Hotel & Restaurant Management program?

I chose these programs because of my passion for food and restaurants. Ever since I was young I have been cooking with my parents and grandparents. I learned I loved working in the dining room as soon as I started my first wait staff job. Serving isn’t my dream job but managing and working as a team certainly is. This program allows me to do these things.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?
When I came into this field, I knew the hours were long. We work nights, weekends, and all holidays. FVTC has taught me that the long hours pay off. At the end of a long day, we have made a difference. We have put on a great event and the guests have enjoyed it. That is all the reward we need.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?

Fox Valley Technical College is one of the top rated schools in Wisconsin. The Culinary Arts program is the largest one in the state, plus it’s just one hour from home.

How did Fox Valley Technical College change your life?

Without FVTC I would not have had the opportunity to learn and experience so many things in my chosen field. The instructors have taught me many things, both industry-related and also lifelong lessons. I have met some wonderful people who help me to be a better person each day.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?
After graduation I know I will be trained well enough to work in some of the best kitchens around. I will also have knowledge in management and leadership, and that will help me to land a great management position in a great restaurant.
