Student Spotlight: Mark Heinrich

Why did you choose the Culinary Arts program?
After working in construction for 20 years, I became a displaced worker. At my age, I have some knee problems, so I wanted to go into something less physical. I chose Culinary Arts for this reason, and also because I love to cook.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?
It’s very rewarding to cook for the public and be complimented on my excellent dishes. I love making food that tastes great.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?
I chose Fox Valley Tech because of its great reputation, the excellent culinary arts instructors and the convenient location.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?
I’m currently working at the Greenville Café. Next, I hope to get a job at a hospital or nursing home facility, but my ultimate goal is to someday own my own restaurant.
