Career Program: Early Childhood Education
Hometown: Stephensville, WI
Current Residence: Stephensville, WI
Attended FVTC: 2008 through May 2012
Why did you choose the Early Childhood Education Program?
I’ve always wanted to be a teacher, and I feel that starting from square one and working your way up is the best way to go. The Early Childhood Education program is awesome! It has given me the base I need to move on to a four-year degree later in life.
What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?
Most of us know that every child learns differently. Through the Early Childhood program, we get to experience this first-hand with our placements each semester. The biggest reward for me is watching the children grow both mentally and physically. It’s an amazing feeling to have children who I taught two semesters ago come up to me and tell me they remember me. It means I’m doing something right when I teach.
Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?
I chose FVTC because I wanted to live at home and commute to a school in the area. I didn’t want to go off to a four-year school right after high school. Attending FVTC first has given me the curriculum and support I need to move on to that four-year college.
What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?
After graduating from Fox Valley Technical College, I hope to become a 4K teacher. I’m currently a full-time student at UW-Oshkosh and I would like to become a special needs teacher in the next couple of years.
