Why did you choose the Law Enforcement programs?
With many years of computer experience, I was looking for a transition into a career that I could leverage my existing life experience and skills. Law Enforcement was an obvious choice and the need for my unique skill set as become increasingly more important.
What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?
One of the most interesting points we have touched on is the emotionally disturbed person and individuals suffering from excited delirium. As a law enforcement officer, we are many times the first responder to any number of situations. Mental health has caught my attention and I would like to pursue my bachelor’s degree in that field once I've completed my program.
Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?
Fox Valley Technical College is known nationally for its outstanding commitment to excellence in the criminal justice field. My desire to be the best was only complemented by the fact that the best educational opportunities existed right here in my own back yard.
How did Fox Valley Technical College change your life?
My life prior to FVTC was comprised of a failing company, unappreciative client base, and struggles with what to do next. FVTC has given me the foundation to build on my past experience and contribute to a profession that has a real need for my specific skill set. FVTC has further become my extended family and I cherish the relationships I’ve gained through the various activities and clubs I’ve had the pleasure of participating with over the past two years.
What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?
I expect to find a job as a patrol officer in the next year. I have already earned my associate degree in Criminal Justice-Law Enforcement, and I am currently finishing up a couple certification track classes. In one more semester, I’ll have earned an associate degree in Cyber Crime Investigation that I hope to put to good use in my future career.
