Why did you choose the Business Management (Marketing emphasis) Program?
I chose business management mainly because I wanted to be able to run my construction business more efficiently (I have run a construction business for nine years). I also wanted to give myself more occupational opportunities to choose from if construction becomes too much wear and tear on my body.
What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?
I’ve learned that the main ingredients to being successful are a combination of motivation and a good work ethic. Those of us who desire to be the best in our fields will lean on that motivation/work ethic to pursue education and knowledge as an essential tool to help set our business apart from the competitors.
Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?
At first I chose FVTC because of the convenient location (FVTC had a center right in Clintonville), but I am so glad I picked FVTC because the instructors and staff are fantastic, and actively seek to help you reach your educational goals. When you have instructors and staff members who want you to succeed just as much as you yourself want to succeed, it’s the perfect ingredient for success.
What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?
I love to try new occupations, but construction will be the main focus. Other side jobs/hobbies I’ve tried (or continue to do) are: assistant coaching high school football, hosting at a restaurant, officiating volleyball, transportation services, farming, youth leader/mission trips, delivering meals, and volunteering. I love that I am not locked in to one job for life, and that I can get a taste of different occupations. Long-term I am not sure where I’ll be in the workforce, but with my degree I am excited to have more potential options. Ultimately, I am interested and excited about the future to see what doors the Lord will open and close down the road.
