Administrative Professional

Apr 29, 2013

Age: 20

Hometown: Appleton, WI

Current Residence: Appleton, WI
Attended FVTC: Fall 2010 through Spring 2013

Why did you choose the Administrative Professional program?
After high school, when I was unsure of what to do with my future, my dad suggested the Administrative Professional field. It includes things that I enjoy: computers, writing, personal contact with people, helping others, etc. It has been a perfect fit for me and I absolutely love it!

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?
People may think that is just an assistant career, sitting at a desk doing other people’s work, but it is so much more than that! I enjoy what I do because I am helping people. It is a truly rewarding career path, and can lead you in so many different directions within a business. This field gives you many options and you can find where your niche is. Some people prefer sales, accounting, human resources, executive level, etc.--the options are pretty much endless!

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?
I chose FVTC because my dad suggested that I go here. Being home-schooled, I needed to complete a GED and completing an associate degree here fulfills that requirement. Another reason why I chose it was because it was so convenient! I live, go to school, and work all within three miles. It makes it easy to fit work in, because it is all so close! This college really gives you the tools and background to succeed in your career field.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?
Currently, I am pursuing a receptionist or an administrative assistant position, preferably in human resources.
