Industrial Welding

Feb 3, 2014

Career Program: Industrial Welding

Age: 18
Hometown: Appleton

Current Residence: Appleton

Attended FVTC: 2013 through present

Why did you choose the Industrial Welding program?
I chose the Industrial Welding program because I like working with my hands, and welding is interesting to me. I like that it is a two-year degree, plus my instructors are fun and interesting.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?
I found it interesting that over 90 percent of welding graduates are hired within six months of graduating. I also find the general education classes rewarding, because I’m learning other valuable skills along with welding. Fox Valley Technical College has introduced me to new experiences and new people. I know that I could ask any of my instructors to provide a job reference, and I know I can go to them for help with just about anything.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?
I chose Fox Valley Technical College because of its convenience—I live and work within a couple miles of the campus. I had also heard from many people how good the welding program is at Fox Valley Tech.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?
I expect to get a job in the local welding industry. I am hoping to get an internship at Miller Electric in Appleton while I finish up my degree.
