Professional Communications

Jun 23, 2014

Career Program: Professional Communications
Age: 30
Hometown: Green Bay, WI
Current Residence: Appleton, WI
Attended FVTC: 2010 through Dec. 2014 (anticipated graduation)

Why did you choose the Professional Communications program?
One of the things that struck me about the Professional Communications program was its ability to be applied to my current career path. Also, Fox Valley Technical College offers this program online, which was another selling point for me because it allowed be to continue to work full time, attend school, and be present for my partner and our two children.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?
Much of the information I am learning is solidifying concepts I am already familiar with. What I find most rewarding about the program is that the skills and concepts taught are applicable to real life. I’m not taking in knowledge that won’t be used.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?
Fox Valley Technical College has an excellent transfer program. It’s one of the reasons I chose to begin my college education there. The idea of hands-on learning also appealed to me. Fox Valley Technical College teaches far beyond the textbook allowing students to demonstrate the skills needed for their field. This type of learning is invaluable.

I’m looking to further my career, enhance my resume, and further define my competitive edge so that I stand out in what is an already saturated job market. Fox Valley Technical College is the outlet I chose to continue to develop those three areas.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?
I currently work as a Business Analyst at an area company and am fortunate that I will not have to job hunt post graduation. My goals after graduation include transferring to a university to continue my education in the arena of Leadership/Organizational Studies. All knowledge gained is being done in an effort to bolster my current career path.
