KI Innovation Center Redefines Learning

Nov 1, 2013

Cushion-style seating in classrooms, desks that move, tables you can write on the surface of, multimedia screens for enhanced presentations, marker boards lining class walls from coast-to-coast, drop-down displays with touch-screen capabilities, and more.

KI Innovation Center

It’s the latest in cutting-edge learning for the world of higher education, and it’s happening at Fox Valley Technical College. Thanks to the support of global furniture leader KI, Fox Valley Technical College now has four new spacious, high-tech learning labs unlike anything in the region.

The new KI Innovation Center on the second floor of FVTC’s Appleton campus was formally dedicated on October 29. Leaders from KI joined FVTC officials in a ceremonial christening of the center, which currently is being used by more than 1,300 students this fall.

“The KI Innovation Center provides a high-tech setting to help build critical skills for our students,” says Chris Matheny, vice-president of instructional services at Fox Valley Technical College. “Employers today need professionals with well-rounded skill sets, and the center is conducive for helping students develop essential teamwork and employability skills. We are grateful for the partnership with KI to help take education to the next level of innovation.”

KI, headquartered in Green Bay, and FVTC also plan to use this center as a pilot project in researching its effectiveness on targeted best practices in student learning.
