Meeting & Event Management

Jan 7, 2013

Age: 20
Hometown: Durban, South Africa

Current Residence: Appleton, WI

Why did you choose the Meeting & Event Management Program?
Back in South Africa, I was pursuing a degree in Tourism Management which is a very large and broad industry. Since I have great passion for events, I saw this as a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the field. This program builds on skills I already have in conferencing and event management, hospitality and events. It also offers an opportunity to combine classroom-based learning with field work activities.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?
Event planning allows me to use my creativity, which makes it very fun and interesting. Plus, if I start my own event planning business, I can enjoy the freedom of being my own boss.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?
I am an international student in the Community College for International Development (CCID) program, and I was placed at Fox Valley Technical College. I’m very glad I was, because Fox Valley Technical College is the best college in the state of Wisconsin.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?
I hope to find a full-time position as a special events coordinator, involving planning and production of events with a company that emphasizes superior customer service.
