Industrial Welding Technician

Nov 25, 2013

Age: 28

Current Residence: Appleton
Attended FVTC: January 2011 through May 2013

Why did you choose the Industrial Welding Technician program?
I originally started with the one-year welding program to learn a skill quickly and get a job. However, once I completed the year, I discovered I was fascinated by welding and wanted to learn more.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?
There’s a very high demand for welders right now. It’s rewarding that even with one year of training, you can get a job and also that traveling is an option.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?
I live in Appleton and always heard great things about FVTC. FVTC has great leadership opportunities to help students grow. Once I started school I got involved with as much as I could. I started with the Welding Club and became a Student Ambassador, and now I’m in Student Government.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?
After graduation, I plan on continuing my education at Ferris State University to get my bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering.
