If you already have training or experience in the diesel industry, this certificate will help you gain advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Diesel Construction Equipment Service Technician (FABTECH) (TD)

55 Credits Location: Oshkosh

There is a shortage of skilled diesel engine specialists. This program will provide you with the skills required to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on a variety of compact and heavy Caterpillar® construction equipment. In addition, you will learn how to perform field service on Caterpillar and Allied rental equipment. You also will obtain skills in engine testing, diagnostics, engine overhauling, air conditioning and shop safety. In less than a year, you could be on the job and earning a good income at one of 20 Wisconsin or Upper Michigan locations of FABCO Equipment, Inc.-Caterpillar.

This setting builds your technical expertise and helps you learn to use the complex equipment needed to diagnose and correct problems. You will have the skills to service any type of diesel-powered equipment.

Electrical Power Generator Service Technician (C)

14 Credits Location: Appleton

This program is for you if you want to learn how to operate and maintain electrical power generators. You’ll gain the knowledge and skills to test, adjust and troubleshoot generators and voltage regulators. You’ll also learn how to calculate power factor and identify the effects of reactive loading on the engine and generator. Your training will prepare you for certification through the Electrical Generating Systems Association.

Get the skills you need to service and repair semi-trailers, and you’ll be ready for this specialized career in the transportation industry.
