Domestic Abuse Survivor and Former Wife of DC Sniper to Lecture at FVTC

Mildred Muhammad’s ties to domestic abuse cover a gamut of personal experience and public tragedy. After several years of silence, she is speaking openly about her day-to-day experiences as a survivor of domestic abuse, which included being stalked and attacked by her former husband, John Allen Muhammad, who is the convicted and now executed DC Sniper. John Allen Muhammad’s control over Mildred led to his terrorizing of the Washington, D.C. metro region in late 2002 with attacks on innocent women, children and men.

Mildred Muhammad will share her story on Tuesday, August 21 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Fox Valley Technical College’s Appleton campus in room C190 inside entrance 15.

The event is free and open to the public, and is sponsored by Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs, Inc. and part of the FVTC National Criminal Justice Training Center’s annual Wisconsin Serving Victims of Crime Conference, held at the Radisson Paper Valley on August 21-23.

After the lecture, visitors can participate in a question-and-answer session as well as a book signing of Ms. Muhammad’s memoir, Scared Silent.
