FVTC Announces Board of Trustees Applicants

Eight applications were submitted for three upcoming openings on the Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) District Board of Trustees. The openings are for two additional members and an elected official. Each new term runs from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2014.

William J. Calhoun of Oshkosh has applied for the additional member position. William is currently president of Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh.

Mark L. Harris of Oshkosh has applied for the elected official and additional member positions. Mark currently serves as Winnebago County Executive.

Nancy Harrity Irvine of Neenah has applied for the additional member position. Nancy is currently employed at The Nielsen Company in Green Bay.

James C. Shank of Hortonville has applied for the additional member position. James is currently plant manager at Muza Metal Products in Oshkosh.

Gary Swartz of Appleton has applied for the additional member position. Gary is currently president of Innovative Tech, LLC in Appleton and president of E-Z Taping System, Inc. in Green Bay.

David C. Tebo of Greenville has applied for the additional member position. David currently serves as the town administrator for the Town of Greenville.

Catherine J. Tierney of Appleton holds one of the additional member positions up for reappointment, and has been an additional member of the FVTC Board since September 2007. She has applied for the additional member position. Catherine is currently president/CEO of Community First Credit Union.

Craig Wussow of Menasha holds one of the additional member positions up for reappointment, and has been an additional member of the FVTC Board since July 2008. He has applied for the additional member position. Craig is currently a pipefitter at Appleton Papers.

The Appointment Committee, comprised of school board presidents from the 28 K-12 districts in FVTC’s service area, will fill all three positions. The committee has scheduled a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, in Room A170C (use entrance 16) at FVTC’s Appleton Campus, 1825 N. Bluemound Drive.

State statute requires that applicants be present for appointment consideration. During the hearing, each candidate will make a brief oral presentation not exceeding five minutes and respond to questions from the appointment committee. Immediately following the hearing the committee will formally vote on the appointments.

Fox Valley Technical College is governed by a nine-member board comprised of two employers, two employees, three additional (at-large) members, a school district administrator, and an elected official. Each year, the terms for three board posts expire.
