Jonathan Gatzke, a student in Fox Valley Technical College’s Electro-Mechanical Technology program, was one of three statewide winners in the 2011 Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) video competition. The Ripon native placed third among more than 50 video entries, representing all 16 Wisconsin technical colleges.

Gatzke’s video depicts a journey from a four-year degree through many years of temporary jobs before returning to college. His video further illustrates how he has successfully balanced school, work, and family life. As part of the competition, Gatzke earned $500 for his winning entry.

Jimi Shaw of Western Technical College placed second, and Hailey Lundborg of Nicolet Area Technical College earned the top prize. Each year, the WTCS sponsors a video competition in concert with its “We Are Futuremakers” campaign. Participating students create brief videos that capture the impact of technical education.
