The Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse (AODA) Student Club at Fox Valley Technical College hosted its 2nd annual public Candlelight Vigil on the college’s Appleton campus on Saturday, September 17 from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m.

The free event began at 6:00 p.m. at the college’s D.J. Bordini Center at 5 Systems Drive with a presentation by Green Bay Police Officer Mike Knetzger regarding the loss of his daughter, Ashley, who was killed by a drunk driver in 2008. Following Knetzger’s discussion, former Green Bay Packer and Packer Hall of Famer Chester Marcol discussed suicide prevention and his personal ties to the issue.

The candlelight vigil on the college’s walking trails culminated the evening’s activities. The vigil is an opportunity for anyone who would like to walk in remembrance of a loved one or friend whose life was influenced by drugs, alcohol, or suicide.

The Student AODA Club and college extend their gratitude to Mr. Marcol and officer Knetzger for participating in this year's event.
