The National Criminal Justice Training Center at Fox Valley Technical College is hosting a free community event on Cyberbullying and Suicide Prevention at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19 at its Appleton campus in Room E130 inside entrance 6.

The event will feature a presentation by Tina Meier, founder of the Megan Meier Foundation. Ms. Meier’s national efforts are dedicated to promoting awareness and education to youth on the dangers of cyberbullying and sexting, in addition to positive change in children. Ms. Meier lost her 16 year-old daughter, Megan, to suicide as a result of an online relationship that turned into an argument.

Ms. Meier worked closely with government officials in Missouri to pass Senate Bill 818, legislation that requires school administrators to report crimes of harassment and stalking committed on school property to law enforcement. She has appeared on many national network television stations and syndicated talk shows.

The event is part of FVTC’s annual School Resources Officer Training Conference.
