Automotive Students in Prestigious Race

Six students from Fox Valley Tech’s Automotive programs raised nearly $8,500 to once again accept an invitation to test the speed and efficiency of two automobiles at the prestigious Salt Flats near Bonneville, Utah.

The students left for Utah on Wednesday as part of this hands-on learning experience. One of the goals of the trip is to hit the 200 MPH mark, a feat not reached by many racers in an experimental capacity of this nature. The students will race a rebuilt Pontiac Firebird for this purpose, and they have entered a Chevrolet Camaro into the race’s 140 mile-an-hour class as well.

FVTC offers training in more automotive-related areas than any college in Wisconsin. The 2012 FVTC Graduate Employment Research Report cited a 97% cumulative job placement rate for graduates from these related program areas.
