Students use Skill to Preserve Waterways

Fox Valley Technical College’s Natural Resources Technician program has enjoyed a longstanding partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR).  Their collaborative efforts to preserve and enhance the state’s wildlife, waterways, plant life, and more were highlighted in the WDNR’s April newsletter.

The article discusses how students from the program’s Natural Resources Technical Field Experience class worked with WDNR fisheries staff to maintain the vitality of cold-water trout streams. Trout stream restoration is an example a recent learning experience in which five students used GPS units to conduct a topographic survey of Chaffee Creek near Wautoma.
