What to Consider in Selecting a College

Bookmark and Share
UPDATED: October 2, 2013

More than 45 attendees engaged in open dialogue with a six-member parent panel during this year's open house as part of the 2nd annual panel discussion.  About 15 representatives from regional employers also joined in on the important conversation on considerations that nee to be made when selecting a college or university.

The following topics were top of mind for many parents who are involved, or will soon be involved, in the process of selecting a college with their child:

Employment - What is the return-on-investment?
Affordability - Why go into mass debt, especially with no career?
Experience - From internships to volunteering, all experiences help.
Credit transfer - Know where to find answers on credits that transfer.
High-demand careers - Is there information on these and where?

Special thanks to our panelists!

Visit Fox Valley Technical College’s Annual Community Open House on Tuesday and be sure to attend the parent panel discussion from 5-6 in the Jones Dairy Farm Culinary Theatre inside entrance 10.

This important discussion will bring to light the important considerations that need to be made when going through the process of selecting a college or university in today’s economy.

In addition, representatives from regional employers will be on-hand before and after the parent panel to share feedback on what types of skills their companies need.
