For English Language Learners who have a basic foundation in English and want to advance their grammar, writing, listening and speaking skills. After successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to enroll in the advanced level. In order for students to advance from one level to the next, they must earn a minimum grade of "C" in each class.
- Receive specialized language and culture training as it relates to studying, living and working in the United States.
- Receive personalized attention and support.
- Partake in cultural field trips to learn about the community.
- Learn to communicate and interact effectively with English speakers.
- The prerequisite for Intermediate is to pass the placement English language test administered by the ELL Department at FVTC or completion of the beginner level.
- Upon successful completion of the advanced level, students may pursue an associate degree program without TOEFL at FVTC and many other universities and colleges.
