Personal Care Worker

This certificate is for those people who work with or want to provide assistance to clients in their homes. It is also for family caregivers or volunteers who assist someone in the home.
The personal care worker can provide:
- Homemaker services which would include accompanying to and from appointments, shopping, and/or social outings; assistance with laundry and housekeeping, and/or assistance with meal preparation.
- Personal Caregiver Servies include minimal assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, incontinence care, medication reminders, oral hygiene, ambulation, and/or range of motion exercises.
After completion of all the courses in the certificate the student will be able to:
- Provide for personal care and homemaker services to clients in their home
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Promote client rights.
Each of the courses in this certificate have an on-line lecture portion and an on-campus lab portion.
The credits from these courses are not transferable to other degree/diploma programs nor is it able to be used to satisfy any professional certification.
