Counseling and Advising Services
Located in the Counseling and Advising Services Office (E121), a counselor/advisor provides assistance to new students who have applied to an Associate Degree or Technical Diploma program.
How we can help:
- Provide advising for educational
planning and course selection
- Facilitate program planning/registration session (New Student Registration)
- Introduce faculty/peer advising process
- Provide referrals to college resources as needed
- Referrals for personal academic challenges
- Meet with students concerning course or
program withdrawal

Peer Advising and Mentoring
Located in the Counseling and Advising Services Office (E121), Peer Advising Connection (PAC) and Peer Mentoring programs are students helping fellow students make the right connections in order to be successful at FVTC. Your peer advisors/mentors can provide assistance in the following areas:
Peer Advising:
- Questions about class selection
- Campus Information
- MyFVTC or Blackboard questions
- Questions concerning program
information - Student Resources availability
- Registration assistance, i.e. enrolling
for classes, using the shopping cart - How to apply for graduation
Peer Mentoring:
- Serve as a role model for student
success and excellence - Assist their mentees in understanding
and connecting to college resources - Answer general questions about FVTC
- Serve as good listeners and offer ideas,
as appropriate - Provide appropriate referral to campus
resources, activities, student organizations,
and programs
Hours of availability during the academic year on the Appleton campus are:
- Monday-Thursday 8:00am-4:00pm
- Friday 9:00am-12:00pm
This is a drop-in service - no appointment necessary!
