This 8 hour session covers recent cases before the United States Supreme Court, the Wisconsin Supreme Court, and the four Wisconsin Court of Appeals which affect the regular responsibilities of patrol officers and investigators.  This includes stops, searches, arrests, confessions, high speed chases, immunity for officers and departments, suppression of evidence, Miranda Rights, GPS tracking devices, and meth scanners.  Additionally, the relevant changes in Wisconsin's criminal law and traffic law statutes will be discussed.  There will be case scenarios and other exercises used to provide an update of cases and statutes.

Instructs patrol officers how to recognize prostitution related activities while on routine patrol.  Officers will learn how to respond to prostitution related complaints using various tactics.  Officers will learn how to navigate common prostitution websites and the terminology used.  The importance of hotel education and cooperation will also be discussed.


TUESDAY (Afternoon):
Murder:  Pre and Post Killing Behavior - (12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.)

Begins with an in-depth look at the six types of murder. The session will include a discussion of the many pre and post killing behaviors (homicidal warning signs). These behaviors include: violent sexual fantasies, drug abuse, obsession with violence, plus more. This session is geared for patrol officers.

Covers the following:  Overview of NFPA 921 and fire scene responsibilities; police and fire team building procedures/responsibilities; initial fire scene law enforcement responsibilities per NFPA 921 (Scene security, Crowd Observations etc.); fire scene equipment and safety; basic cause and origin fire investigation scene procedures per NFPA 921 and much more!


Please note:  After the drop-dead class cancellation date, we will not accept registration cancellations.  If one or your officers cannot attend for whatever reason, you are welcome to send a substitute, but you will be charged for the registration regardless.  (Registrations canceled before the drop-dead class cancellation date will not be billed to you.  If you need to substitute an officer, please contact Jessica Heimann at heimann@fvtc.edu.
