Training Topics Offered:
This is a 24 hour training course consisting of 8 hours classroom, 8 hours of open water training and 8 hours of team scenarios. It satisfies a team member’s requirement for Public Safety Diver certification to be a member of a Public Safety Dive Team. Students passing the course will receive a PADI Public Safety Diver Certification Card.
PADI (Professional Association of Scuba Instructors) description:
The PADI Public Safety Diver course familiarizes divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques and hazards of public safety diving. It establishes a solid public safety diving foundation and includes basic rescue skills (both surface and underwater), knot tying, arc search techniques, victim recovery, tender responsibilities, communications and rescue techniques for a distressed public safety diver.
Members of Police/Fire/Emergency Public Safety Dive Teams. In addition to divers, non-diving team members (team leaders, tenders, safety officers) can attend the training to be better prepared to participate in a Public Safety Diving incident. All participants shall be Advanced Open Water Scuba certified and will be required to have a physician sign a medical information form prior to participating.
