Successful Grant Writing

As available funding for programs diminishes, the competition for those funds gets tighter. This program is designed to help you to learn how to make the most of your grant writing time. This hands-on computer lab-based training teaches you to:
  • transition a request for proposal (RFP) into an outline for your response;
  • write proposals that stand out from the competition;
  • develop fundable, targeted concept papers;
  • seek funds that align your project with the funding source;
  • gather resources in support of your project; and
  • make it easy for peer reviewers to score your proposal;
The course covers types of funding, including private foundations, corporate donations, state, and federal government funds. Learn the critical steps in the award process and what to do if your proposal is not funded. Participants are provided with templates to use for future concept papers and grant proposals. Due to the hands-on nature of the training, class size is limited.

Who Should Attend

Law enforcement administrators, business leaders, private and not-for-profit organizations, and those interested in learning more about writing grant proposals and concept papers for federal, state and foundation funding are encouraged to attend.
