NIYPA Mission Statement

We are Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice professionals who have been successful in our careers. We believe in our Tribal youth and their roles in the future of their Tribes. We believe in the sovereignty of Tribes and the importance of preserving the rights, heritage, culture and traditions of our Tribes while preparing our youth with the tools to be successful in their chosen endeavors. Our duty as the Board of Directors for the National Indian Youth Police Academy is to be open and honest with our youth, providing them with role models and information to assist them in making positive choices in their lives. We work to assist Tribes in the development of youth as future law enforcement and justice leaders or as citizens with a better understanding and appreciation of the justice system. Our duty includes the continued support of students through a progressive program that maintains ongoing relationships and involvement.
