Program Overview

The Nursing Assistant (NA) program focuses on the skills you will need to assist nurses in providing simple, basic patient care. The student will learn how to assist with personal hygiene, safety, nutrition, exercise, and elimination needs of the patient to promote his/her physical and psychological comfort.

At the conclusion of the Nursing Assistant program, you receive a certificate of completion. Upon graduation and successful completion of the Wisconsin Nurse Aide competency exam conducted by Pearson VUE, you are qualified to work as a nursing assistant or home health aide in a hospital, nursing home, home care or other health care agency in the state of Wisconsin.

Program Description

This 120 hour flexible program is divided into online/independent study activities, practice labs and actual clinical experiences all within the course. Each semester and summer, there are many different schedules offered out of the Appleton and Oshkosh campuses, as well as the Chilton, Clintonville and Waupaca regional centers. You will receive the lab instruction at one of these locations and the clinical experience in a local, long-term care agency. The labs and clinicals may be offered mornings, afternoons, evenings and/or weekends and range over 3-10 weeks in length. Each class section schedule is unique and offers the opportunity to complete the program within your lifestyle. The program includes content required for state and federal nursing assistant-home health aide guidelines and qualifies you to apply for the certification exam after successful completion of the course.
