The Nursing Department offers three different levels of education to prepare
students to gain entry into the healthcare profession: Nursing Assistant,
Practical Nursing, and Associate Degree Nursing
The Nursing Assistant (NA) program is a 120-hour technical diploma program
which prepares students to practice as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) after
successful completion of the National Nurse Aide registry exam. The CNA provides
for the personal needs and comfort of people with health problems under the
direction of a licensed nurse (either RN or LPN).
The Practical Nursing (PN) program is a 29 credit technical diploma program
which prepares students to work as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) after
successful completion of the State Board exam. The LPN works with and under the
supervision of the RN.
The
LPN to Associate Degree (ADN) Pathway Program focuses on the skills and knowledge you will need
in the real world of Nursing. The Pathway Program allows students who
have their license as an LPN to enter into the 3rd semester of the ADN
program after the LPN to ADN Pathway Course is successfully completed.
The Pathway Course is offered every summer to a limited number of
students. Once you have successfully completed the course you will then
enter the 3rd semester of the ADN program in the Fall or Winter term of
that academic year.
The
Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program is a 70 credit associate degree
program which prepares students to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) after
successful completion of the State Board exam. The RN works in collaboration
with other health care professionals to provide holistic health care for the
client.
NOTE: You can NOT apply to both the Associate Degree and Practical Nursing programs. You have to select one or the other.
