HAZWOPER 8-Hour Training Program

Due to the seriousness of the safety and health hazards related to hazardous waste operations, OSHA has issued a standard specifically developed to protect workers in this environment and to help them handle hazardous waste safely and effectively. The Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) standard covers workers employed in cleanup operations at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites; corrective actions involving clean-up at operations at sites covered by the RCRA; voluntary clean-up operations at uncontrolled sites; EPA-licensed treatment, storage, and disposal (TSD) facilities; and emergency response operations for releases of hazardous substances regardless of the location. The overall objective of this training program is to prepare employees in the proper procedures of communicating and responding to a spill situation.
