Time Commitment and Expectations

Most students complete a chapter a week and spend between 2 and 4 hours per chapter.  Some students complete 2 chapters a week, while others take much longer.  We ask that once you begin a course that you complete it within 12 weeks.  Below is a listing of the five modules and the number of chapters in each module:

  • Basics of Supply Chain Management - 10 chapters
  • Master Planning of Resources - 8 chapters
  • Detailed Scheduling and Planning - 9 chapters
  • Execution and Control of Operations - 8 chapters
  • Strategic Management of Resources - 8 chapters

Remember To Include Testing Lead Time. To become a CPIM you must take and pass examinations for each of the five CPIM modules.  These tests are administered by a third party that APICS has contracted with.  The tests are administered on demand domestically (when you need them versus a set schedule) and are offered at testing centers.  More information about testing can be found by clicking APICS CPIM Exam Information
