When cellular manufacturing is implemented, you make one product at a time immediately — the opposite of the mass-batch method — where products are processed and set aside for assembly. Often this requires that you set up workstations next to each other in the shape of a “U.” This is where the term “cell” originates, as each production line becomes its own cell.
Cellular training will cover the detailed, five-step process for designing and implementing work cells for either assembly or machining applications. You will participate in a live simulation to apply principles learned to gain a solid foundation.
You will learn about:- Plant layout implications
- Takt time
- Value added versus non-value added
- Line balancing
- Variable work cycles
- Human and machine design
- Quality at the source
- Poka yoke (mistake proofing)
