Program Registration Information

  • Newly admitted program students are required to attend/complete a New Student Orientation and Registration (NSO) before registering for their first semester of courses.
  • Entry into nursing courses begins in August and January. Once you start taking core nursing courses the program will take 2 years to complete.
  • Class size is limited to 54 students each term.
  • Students that have all general education and science credits, required for the program, completed will earn a priority enrollment appointment date. The priority enrollment time that you receive will be based on your admit term. For example someone that was admitted in Fall 2008 will have an earlier enrollment time than someone admitted for Spring 2009. More information on this process can be found on the Nursing Web Site under “Registration Information” www.fvtc.edu/nursing. This information is updated each semester.
  • If there are spots available in all 4 core nursing classes you may enroll if there is an opening on/after your enrollment appointment date. However, it is recommended that you take 33-37 credits of required courses (general education, science, and elective classes) prior to starting core nursing classes.
  • Utilize the Associate Degree Nursing Program Plan to determine what courses you need to take in the program. A program plan is sent to you when you are admitted to the program and can also be accessed in the following section.
  • If you are unsure how to register online, please  follow these instructions to register online.
  • When registering for 1st semester nursing courses you will need to register for all 4 nursing courses required in the 1st semester courses at the same time. The class numbers that you will need are posted on the nursing web site: www.fvtc.edu/nursing under the “Registration Information” tab on the right hand side of the page. Registration information will be placed on teh website by Advising Week.
  • Once you have successfully registered for 1st semester nursing courses you will be required to submit clinical documentation. The Clinical Documentation Policy can be viewed online on the Nursing Clinical Documentation Policy web page.
  • The deadline to have your clinical documentation turned in will be listed on the notes section of the study list when you view your registration information. If your clinical documentation is not received, on or before, the due date, you will be removed from ALL nursing core classes. If you register AFTER the deadline, you will have 2 weeks to get your documentation turned into the appropriate office.
  • If you do not get into the 1st semester nursing classes on your enrollment appointment date but are ready to start, you will need to check for open spaces frequently so that you can enroll if/when there is an opening.
    • NOTE: You will also want to make sure that you have your clinical documentation completed and up-to-date so that if you do get in you are ready to go!

Important Info you need to know!

  • Two semesters of high school chemistry or General Chemistry (10-806-174 or 10-806-134) with grade of C or better is a prerequisite for General Anatomy and Physiology (10-806-177).
  • Students who are admitted, have completed the CNA requirement and have all general education, and sciences completed, transferred in or are in process are given a priority enrollment appointment date for first semester core classes only (not 2nd, 3rd, or 4th semester). Admit term is also a criteria used for the priority enrollment date, meaning that students who have an earlier admit term will have an earlier registration appointment. You can read more about this at www.fvtc.edu/nursing and click on Registration Information.
  • Visit Nursing Web Page at: www.fvtc.edu/nursing for more information about the program
  • A mandatory Nursing Program orientation will be held prior to the start of each term. The date and time of the orientation will be listed on the Fundamentals of Nursing notes section of the study list when you view your registration information.
  • Important information will be sent to your FVTC email address. Please check and clear your email box frequently. A full IN BOX will prevent receiving college communications
  • To maintain active status in any program at FVTC, you must complete at least 1 course per academic year (fall, winter, summer terms)
