Program for February

JoEllen Wollangk, our February quest speaker, has 20 years experience working at the Outagamie Historical Society in a variety of positions and is now Vice President of the Better Business Bureau in Wisconsin and Regional Manager for the Northeast Wisconsin Better Business Bureau Office. JoEllen assists consumers with marketplace problems, assisting in clarifying whether offers are legitimate or scams, and teaching how to prevent ID theft.  Working with businesses, she provides them with information about business scams, advising them on ethical advertizing, and assisting them with applications for the BBB ethics award.  She also provides the media by providing them with input on questionable business activities and scams.  The educational aspects of the position are of a particularly enjoyment to JoEllen.

JoEllen is a lifelong resident of the Fox Valley and a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a degree in the long-term study of museums and their role as an educational mechanism.

This should be an extremely interesting and informative program to one and all.  Mark the date on your calender, Friday, 20 February 2012 @ 1:15 PM, and maybe even let your neighbors and friends know about this program. When it comes to protecting our hard earned dollars, we're all in this together.

Attention!!!!

The January Meeting was scheduled to have Dan Van Evenhoven, a member of the Radio Shack Organization as our quest speaker.  His plan is to speak on GPS (Global Positioning System) Units and Smart Phones with GPS built into the phone.  As always there is a question and answer period so if there are questions in your mind about GPS, here is a chance for you to get answers. Due to unforeseen circumstances Dan was not able to speak at the January Meeting, but Linda Young at the last minute was able to enlist Mike Turek as a quest speaker.  Mike spoke on the line of Apple products available such as iPhones, iPads, iPods, and of course the Apple Computer.  Mike is the President of the MUG (Mac Users Group) here at the Bordini Center and any person wishing to join the users group by attending a meeting, the 1st Wednesday of the Month at the Bordini Center in Room #174.  Mike also has his own business providing help with the Apple Products.  You can call him at 920.882.0570 or email him at mturek@themachead.com.

If you know of someone new to computers, point them in our direction for any assistance they may need or even persons who are experienced may share their knowledge. The Senior Computer Users Group is a very informal group and its membership is FREE. So come on down, pull up a chair, introduce yourself to the person next to you, and Enjoy. The Senior Computer Users Group needs your support and values your participation.
