Health Simulation and Technology Center

Why is this project necessary?
To provide enhanced training through patient/medical simulation.

The Need:
  • Industry forecasts a growing need for registered nurses due to increased health care demand and an aging labor supply of health care workers.
  • Space is very limited for hands-on clinical training in one of the college’s high-demand fields of study.
  • There is a need for interdisciplinary health care education using the human patient simulators and other emerging technologies.
  • Area health care providers throughout our region rely on FVTC for access to current technology for training students as well as training for employed health care workers.
The Objectives:
  • Expand and enhance training for students and community health care workers through simulated experiences.
  • Use the latest advancements in health care technology and practice in the region.
  • Expand health care programming options to mirror job forecasts and address employer needs.
  • Increase inter-disciplinary training for health professionals and emergency personnel.
Project Overview:
An addition at the Appleton campus will improve health-related training and maximize human patient simulator (HPS) technology with a virtual hospital, real-life simulation sites, virtual training labs, and a training center for HPS technicians. Additional classroom space on the second and third floors will increase our ability to meet health care and other program enrollment demands.
