Purpose and Functions 



The Fox Valley Technical College Student Nurses' Association (FVTC SNA) was organized on March 1, 1979. The Student Nurses' Association is a constituent of the Wisconsin Student Nurses' Association (WSNA) and the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA).

The purpose of the FVTC SNA is to:

  • assume responsibility for contributing to the nursing education of FVTC nursing students toward the goal of recognizing quality nursing care
  • to provide programs representative of fundamental and current professional interests and concerns
  • to aid in the development of the whole person and his/her responsibility for the health care of people in all settings

The function of the FVTC SNA shall include the following:

  • to be aware of standards of nursing education and how to influence the education process
  • to be aware of how to influence health care, nursing education, and practice through legislative activities as appropriate
  • to promote and encourage participation in community affairs and activities towards improved health care and the resolution of related social issues
  • to represent nursing students to the consumer, to institutions, and to other organizations
  • to promote and encourage student participation in interdisciplinary activities
  • to promote and encourage participation in student activities and educational opportunities regardless of a person's race, color, creed, sex, lifestyle, national origin, age, or economic status
Amendments to these bylaws may be developed by the FVTC SNA and from any recommendations of the WSNA. Date submitted: revision 8/2012, 8/2013
