Second-year Fox Valley Technical College Information Technology student Kurt Theyel, Greenville, is among 40 finalists nationally competing for one of two $19,000 CFCareForward scholarships, sponsored by Abbott, a global health care company devoted to new medicines, new technologies, and new ways to manage health.
The CFCareForward scholarship program offers support to young adults like Theyel who are battling cystic fibrosis (CF) while they pursue goals related to higher education. Theyel is pursuing two associate degrees at FVTC, one in IT - Programmer/Analyst and the other in IT - Web Development and Design Specialist.
Theyel is not letting CF stop him from being a husband, father, student, and volunteer. He is proactively involved in volunteering for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Freedom Center Food Pantry, to name a few community organizations. In addition, Theyel is involved in many co-curricular experiences at FVTC, including the college’s chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals. Recently, he also completed a mission service trip to Honduras to help the country’s youth.
