BICSI Information Technology Systems Cabling

Fox Valley Technical College is an authorized training facility for [*BICSI's Information Technology Systems Cabling Installation*](www.bicsi.org) training courses.

The information technology systems (ITS) installation program is a competency-based model offering core skills and on-the-job training, as well as credentialing examinations for *BICSI Installer 1*; *Installer 2 Copper*; *Installer 2 Optical Fiber*; and *ITS Technician* designation participants. The cabling installation training program leads to the recognition of highly trained installers and technicians.

Course Options

**BICSI Installer 1 (IN101)**

The *BICSI Installer 1* (IN101) course is designed to provide entry-level ITS cabling installers with the background, knowledge and basic skills needed to function effectively on the job. This intense 40-hour course emphasizes industry codes and standards, safety, industry best practices and hands-on skills that will immediately impact productivity on the jobsite. No cabling experience is necessary to attend the IN101 course. This course is recognized by the State of Wisconsin and earns 32 CEU's for Wisconsin Licensed Electricians.

  • ** *BICSI Installer 1 Exam* (IN101):** The Installer 1 exam includes written and hands-on tasks.

**BICSI Installer 2, Copper (IN225)**

The *BICSI Installer 2, Copper (IN225)* course begins with an overview of copper transmission principles, professionalism, life safety and general industry best practices, as related to copper. A significant amount of course time will then be spent on BICSI best practices for the installation, termination, testing and retrofitting of copper cable. Pathways and spaces; grounding, bonding and protection; and firestopping are also covered in the IN225 course. Participants must have one (1) year of current and verifiable installation experience before enrolling in the IN225 course. This course is recognized by the State of Wisconsin and earns 32 CEU's for Wisconsin Licensed Electricians.

  • ** *BICSI Installer 2 Copper Exam* (IN225):** Receive your BICSI ITS Installer 2 Copper credential by passing the comprehensive exam. Written and hands-on testing provided. Must have at least one (1) year current and verifiable ITS industry cabling installation experience.

**BICSI Installer 2, Optical Fiber (IN250)**

The *BICSI Installer 2, Optical Fiber* (IN250) course will provide an overview of fiber optic transmission principles, professionalism, life safety and industry best practices, as related to fiber. A significant amount of course time will then be spent on installation, splicing, termination, testing and retrofitting of optical fiber cable. Additional topics covered will include pathways and spaces, firestopping and an introduction to field coordination. Participant must have a minimum of two (2) years of current and verifiable installation experience prior to enrolling in the IN250 course. This course is recognized by the State of Wisconsin and earns 32 CEU's for Wisconsin Licensed Electricians.

  • ** *BICSI Installer 2 Optical Fiber Exam* (IN250):** Receive your BICSI ITS Installer 2 Optical Fiber credential by passing the exam. Written and hands-on portions are provided. 50+ hours of study in the ITS IMM and industry experience are highly recommended. Must provide at least one (1) year of current and verifiable ITS cabling installation experience to be eligible for testing.

**BICSI Technician (TE350)**

The *BICSI Technician* (TE350) course provides an advanced study of copper splicing, testing and troubleshooting. Another major topic covered in this course is field coordination, including site surveys, blueprint reading, network infrastructure and project management. This course will also cover some special topics within ITS cabling installation, including data center installation and health care facilities. Participants must have at least three (3) years current and verifiable installation experience prior to enrolling in the TE350 course. It is also highly recommended, participants holds the IN225 or IN250 credential before taking this course. This course is recognized by the State of Wisconsin and earns 32 CEU's for Wisconsin Licensed Electricians.

  • ** *BICSI Technician Exam* (TE350):** Earn BICSI's top ITS cabling installation credential by passing the technician exam. Written and hands-on exams are provided. 50+ hours of independent study and three (3) years verifiable and current ITS cabling experience are minimum recommendations to complete prior to registering for the exam.
