Wisconsin Terrorism Awareness and Prevention

Wisconsin Terrorism and Awareness

About the Training

Since September 11, 2001, numerous requests have been received for a crime prevention program that focuses on terrorism awareness and prevention. In response to this need, and as a result of a grant from the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance, Winnebago County, in partnership with the Wisconsin Crime Prevention Practitioners Association and Fox Valley Technical CollegeCriminal Justice Center for Innovation,  developed the  “Wisconsin Terrorism Awareness and Prevention” (WisTAP) Training the Trainer program. Attendees will be trained on how community residents can make a difference. Terrorism awareness and prevention, as well as overall community safety, requires a holistic community approach.

You Can Cake a Difference!

As a distinguished member of your community, you can help educate residents in the quest to increase awareness and prevent terrorism and other threats to community safety. Those attending the WisTAP training will be provided with instructional materials and resources needed to become an instructor in their community. Instructional materials include a book and CD-ROM, which will provide participants with access to the latest terrorism awareness and community safety updates as they become available. This program is designed to increase terrorism awareness by training participants how to educate and empower citizens. Through community presentations, instructors will be able to encourage citizens to become participants in their own security; establish a stronger partnership between law enforcement and the community; as well as discourage, detect and defeat terrorism in Wisconsin through education.

Objectives
The WisTAP training is intended to provide an overview of the threat of terrorism in Wisconsin and how to enhance citizen awareness and accountability for community safety. In addition, participants will be prepared to educate residents to provide current information on what terrorism is and how to recognize and report suspicious activities. You will learn how to...
