Students representing Fox Valley Technical College’s agriculture programs earned recognition for their skills, including a first-place finish, at the annual national Post-Secondary Agricultural conference in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
The first place winners from FVTC won the team Crop Specialist category and consisted of students Jessica Levson, Zac Soltvedt, and Brittany Detert. FVTC also took second and third in this same category, sweeping the team competition. Second-place students included Mike Buiter, Dustin Korth, and Jeris Nigh and the third-place team was comprised of students Ben Julka, Brad Henken, and Lorn Waldschmidt.
Other students placing in top three finishes included third-place honors for Kayla Krahn in the individual Career Progress: Agribusiness Management & Marketing Systems Non-Retail category and Brianne Hansen in the individual Prepared Speaking competition.
There were nearly 50 competitions at the conference, which included the participation of more than 600 agriculture students nationwide. The national Post-Secondary Agriculture student organization is made up of about 1,400 members from 62 chapters in 18 states with the purpose of providing opportunities for individual growth, leadership, and career preparedness.
