The registrations have been counted and about 470 visitors attended the Fox Valley Technical Manufacturing Job Fair on Tuesday, February 25.
What a great demonstration of how career seekers and employers can come together to address the issues of a new economy. The results could equate to a great career for someone with the right skills, economic development, and better quality of life right here in the region.
A special thanks to all employers, students, and visitors who attended this huge event on February 25.
“This is the fastest I have ever seen a job fair fill in my twenty-plus years of working as an employment advisor,” says Bruce Weiland, a specialist in FVTC’s Student Employment Services department. “We had to manage a waiting list in less than two weeks after sending one email to area employers; there is that much energy behind trying to fill needs in our regional manufacturing sector.”
FVTC officials estimated that nearly half of the employers in attendance needed specific skills in automation, industrial maintenance, and electro-mechanical programming and troubleshooting.
Other skill sets in demand include machining, mechanical design, welding and metal fabrication, electronics, supply chain management, wood manufacturing, and specialized skills in various engineering-related disciplines.
