As a mother of four, Kierrin Phillips knew she would need a career to supplement her spouse’s income and pursue her dream. Kierrin chose to enroll part-time in FVTC’s associate degree Nursing program. “I was so impressed with the reputation of the program and I wanted hands-on experience,” said Kierran.

Kierrin was awarded an FVTC Staff Giving Scholarship (provided by employees of the college) and was also a Salmon Scholarship recipient. “I remember the first time I heard that I received a scholarship; I couldn’t believe it. I knew then that I could work hard and finish!”

Kierrin currently works for Agnesian Heath Care as a quality data specialist and lead registered nurse for women and infants. She is also pursuing a master’s degree in nursing education. When asked if she has any further career goals, Kierrin stated, “Once I finish my master’s degree, I hope to teach at FVTC in the Nursing program. I want to give back!”
