Why did you choose the Occupational Therapy Assistant program?

I took a career counseling workshop at FVTC and realized I really wanted to work with people. Occupational Therapy appealed to me because I will be able to work with many different types of people. I was drawn to the holistic view of Occupational Therapy in looking at the person as a whole.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?

Occupational Therapy Assistants can work in a wide variety of settings. No matter the setting, I think the relationship that is formed with the client will be the most rewarding. Learning about the client's needs and wants and finding the best way to help them achieve that is very exciting to me.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?

FVTC is close to home and had the program field I was interested in. I had a positive experience with FVTC when I attended right out of high school. When I was ready to start a new career, I was happy to see I could come back here.

How did Fox Valley Technical College help you change your life?

FVTC is giving me the knowledge, tools, confidence and experience I will need to enter a new career. Without that, my job opportunities would be limited. FVTC can open doors for me that would have otherwise been closed.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?

Since Occupational Therapy Assistants can work with so many different types of people, I am not sure where I will find employment. I hope that I will find a job that is rewarding and fulfilling to me. I want to be able to help people live their lives in ways that are important to them. That would make me happy.
