Why did you choose the Applied Engineering Technologies / Lean Six Sigma program?
I was working in the commercial printing world at small mom & pop shops that couldn’t or didn’t spend the money to stay current. Because of that they were always laying people off. I decided that it was time to try my hand at a new industry so I choose the AET/Lean Six Sigma program because there are a lot of companies using the Lean/Six Sigma processes. I thought it would broaden my chances of finding employment with a stable company.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?
Actually, I’m finding that I have been doing a lot of these activities my whole career; it just wasn’t called Lean then. I’ve learned that there is more to it than just a few terms being tossed around. It’s definitely a process that everyone has to believe in to make work.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?
I choose FVTC because of the reputation of being a really solid school with excellent instructors, and I was right. The instructors I’ve had have been really helpful whenever I had questions. Most of my classes were online so when I needed help, I just emailed them and usually got a response quickly.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?
I actually just started a new position as Quality Manager for a company called WS Packaging Group. We have 23 locations nationwide and are a major player in the consumer packaging world. I don’t think I could have gotten this job without the training from FVTC. It was worth every minute!
