New Executive Director of Foundation & Community Relations

Jun 17, 2014

Fox Valley Technical College has named Mary Downs executive director of the Fox Valley Technical College Foundation, Inc. and Community Relations.

Downs brings more than 25 years of experience to the position in the areas of management and community relations. Most recently, she served as system vice-president, Spine & Orthopedic Service Lines for ThedaCare. Prior to that position, the Appleton native spent several years at Thrivent Financial for Lutherans in various roles related to the implementation of internal employee development strategies and external marketing initiatives.

“The Fox Valley Technical College Foundation is one of the leading philanthropy arms of two year colleges in the state because of its innovative approaches to building relationships,” Downs says. “I’m excited to continue a strong legacy of making education affordable and working on cutting edge projects that benefit a diverse student body.”

Downs earned a 2010 professional service award from NAMI Fox Valley for her work in promoting mental illness issues and awareness. In 2007, she received special recognition from Thrivent for her work in improving the quality of life for co-workers and members of the community.

Founded in 1976, the FVTC Foundation, Inc. is the college’s partner in securing and providing resources that foster lifelong learning and workforce development opportunities throughout the communities it serves. For more information, visit www.fvtc.edu/foundation.
