Opening up the World of Manufacturing

Opening up the World of Manufacturing

National Manufacturing Month

Oct 2, 2014

Fox Valley Technical College is hosting a number of activities this week in celebration of National Manufacturing Month in October. The college is on a mission to raise awareness about great careers that are available right now for anyone whose skill matches the immediate needs of regional employers.

The skills gap continues to pose challenges for our economy and quality of life. Thankfully, FVTC is committed to showing future makers its high-tech classrooms and technologies to spark interest in careers that are good-paying, rewarding, and full of incredible growth potential. Manufacturing is alive and well, and it just takes a little time to visit FVTC to see the broad opportunities that await those who have with the right skills.

One proactive method in which FVTC is opening up the world of manufacturing is by providing consistent tours of its world class facilities to high school students. This week, the college welcomed prospective students from Little Chute, Appleton East, Appleton West, and Hortonville to its Appleton campus to explore manufacturing programs, and Oshkosh West and Oshkosh North students toured the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center to discover training aligned with hot careers in welding and metal fabrication.

One ideal way to learn more about the 200-plus offerings that all designed to meet specific industry needs is to visit FVTC’s annual Community Open House on Tuesday, October 7.
