Why did you choose the Early Childhood Education program?

I chose to go into Early Childhood Education because I want to make a difference in people’s lives from early on. Research has shown that the years from birth to age five can influence a person’s overall life success. I love working with children and want to help provide a lasting impact on their education and lives.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?

I have learned that being a teacher is not just about lessons from a book. It is about kindness, advocacy and knowledge. Knowing the developmental information enables teachers to better advocate for children.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?

I decided to attend FVTC because of its excellent reputation. I’ve continued because of the faculty’s true passion for helping students succeed.

How did Fox Valley Technical College help you change your life?

FVTC has helped change my life with the level of care and concern that I have been shown. The people are what make FVTC so great and they have inspired me to be that kind of teacher. I hope that one day I can be as generous, kind and understanding as the professors in the Early Childhood Education department.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?

I am hoping to work in a position that offers me the opportunity to advocate for children and families on a regular basis. That may be working in a childcare center or for a nonprofit that focuses on that work specifically. The courses I have taken at FVTC have really inspired me to be more creative in my career goals.
