Why did you choose the Human Resources program?

I really had a hard time deciding what degree I wanted to pursue after high school until I learned more about what Fox Valley Technical College offered. I found Human Resources to be a very exciting degree because of all the great opportunities it offers. Being able to specialize in different areas of the degree is quite fascinating to me, especially since I have a big interest in being part of the employment and recruiting department.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?

Really understanding the importance of an HR professional is key to ensuring a business’s success. They can really influence the way a company performs by having that ability to recruit and employ skilled individuals who work together toward company goals. HR professionals also work to retain and reward those employees who really care to show effort in every task they do.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?

During high school, Fox Valley Technical College representatives visited often to provide information about their programs, and all the great things they have available for students. I wasn’t really sure what career I wanted to go into until I attended one of the meetings and became very interested in Human Resources.

It’s such an affordable school, plus classes are super flexible. They work around personal schedules, which was something that I really liked since I worked full time. Once I knew credits could easily transfer if I wanted to pursue a further degree, I knew this was the school for me.

How did Fox Valley Technical College help you change your life?

This school has made it possible for me to further my education and become the first generation in my family to graduate from college. My parents didn’t have the opportunity to continue their education, so it really means a lot to me to be able to share that accomplishment with them.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?

I’m focused on starting as a recruiter for a staffing agency, just because I believe it’s a great way to get my foot in the door and gain some great experience on employment recruiting. From there, I’d love to advance within the company and work around the different departments the HR role has to offer.
