Announcing the 2021 Outstanding Alumnus of the Year

Holly Maas

| By: Britten, Casey

Holly Maas, an Evidence Technician for the Ashwaubenon Department of Public Safety, has been named the recipient of the Fox Valley Technical College 2021 Outstanding Alumni Award.

A 2016 graduate of the Forensic Science program, Holly earned the award for demonstrating the value of technical education through career advancement, community service, continued personal and educational growth, and support of the Wisconsin Technical College System.

After an internship with the Grand Chute Police Department, Holly became the first full-time civilian property room manager/evidence technician in the state of Wisconsin. She gives back to the FVTC Forensic Science program by serving on the program advisory committee as well as teaching classes as an adjunct faculty member.

Holly served as the first student member of the Wisconsin Association for Identification (WAI) and went on to join the Board of Directors, serve as president, and is currently serving her third term as chairman of the board. Her work on the WAI Property and Evidence Management Committee, and the guide she helped create, led to opportunities to conduct training and presentations throughout the state for law enforcement officers and for the Police Chief’s Conference.

In addition to her career achievements, Holly served on the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run Committee and has assisted with community events such as National Night Out, Public Safety Training Days in Chilton, Smart Girls Rock through Miller Electric, and more. She also started the Police Benevolent Association and served as vice president. Through that role, she organized a 5K/10K to raise funds for bully prevention education.

About her Fox Valley Tech experience, Holly says, “I went back to school at FVTC after having my two oldest sons. My education gave me a sense of accomplishment and confidence in myself and my career, and has allowed me to show my sons that you can accomplish anything; there is no expiration date on your dreams.”
